Perks of Being a Wallflower

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perks_of_being_a_wallflower

I didn't really know what the noun wallflower means until I read the book Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Wallflower is a person who is shy and who doesn't want to socialize much.

Before I say anything...I mean a lot about the book, I'd first say how I got interested to get the book. Well, no, it was actually why I asked my brother-in-law for the book. :) =p

I know I have heard of the book but what really got me curious about it is that the casts of the film adaptation include Logan Lerman and Emma Watson. These are great actors I admire. Yup! Same reason why I read 13 Reasons Why. I think I have this interest on books with first person point of view. Anyway...I'll write what I think about the book. And hey! You won't see negative comments. :)

I have already described the word wallflower but the book also said that Charlie, the main character of the story, is known for being a wallflower--the boy who knows a lot but doesn't say anything about any of them.

I honestly think that the book is so GOOD! It was realistic. No lies. The author was just saying what could happen to a teenage kid in the real world.

Suicide. Drugs. Homosexuality. Sex. Rape. Abuse. These are the sensitive issues that the book contains and that the readers must know. 'cause these happen in life...to teens. The book gives so many lessons and it was well narrated. It was cool and heavy at the same time. It was so well balanced. By reading the book, readers would understand and realize the consequences of what bad decisions would give them and the chances they could have to put things back to normal.

Charlie is a VERY brave boy to have survived the challenges he faced. Especially the one that her aunt, whom he loved dearly, did to him. (I don't want to spill that part because I don't want to spoil the readers =p)

After reading this book, I literally felt like I have a friend named Charlie...who writes me letter of his daily life every now and then. :) <3

Charlie, I am writing you back. :) Thanks for being honest and helpful to your friends. :) Thanks for being a friend. :)
